Ouroboros is a St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador ensemble led by saxophonist Greg Bruce, featuring a distinctive frontline of four saxophones with drums/percussion. Their high-energy “worldbeat party jazz” pulls from a wide palette of folk and groove traditions — from carnival-esque originals and Klezmer party tunes to West African–influenced rhythms — filtered through a jazz-and-funk sensibility designed to get audiences moving.
